Meredith Carpenter was just a normal student whose life revolved around studying, volunteering at the local vet clinic, and going on the occasional date. I enjoyed reading this book. I really enjoyed that it took place in Arizona familiar places to me.
I know it was a fantasy and I felt young Teens would really enjoy reading it
This is a great read. The story grabs you from the first page. It is a book that you just cannot put down. It would make a wonderful movie!

Wonderful read. A bit of Potter type bio-magic with some students waking up from another ordinary day, only to discover they have to change the world, however reluctantly.
Each chapter ends with you having to turn the page to find out what happens next.
Really enjoyed this book, couldn't put it down! Literally stayed up until 3am reading it. I love the combination of her almost-tangible characters with fantasy themes. In that vein, I'd compare it to A Wrinkle in Time--extraordinary things happening to real people.
The relationships are not just a group of loyal and hilarious friends (and some incidental but important acquaintances), but realistically include the main characters' parents and siblings, making Meredith (the main character) much more real. Additionally, the setting is a delightful insiders' view of Phoenix--haboobs and all!
Excited for the next installment!
Great story; well written. I look forward to reading the next one. It has believable characters and the story is intriguing and leaves you wanting to follow the story to its conclusion however long it takes. The thing is; you don't want the story to end because it is so entertaining. Thumbs up for the whole narration. Keep it up, K K Eaton!
Second Heart is difficult to put down as it is so intriguing. It has the mystery that I like, being a mystery fan, with the aspect of being right with the characters through their adventures. I had to keep picking up the book to find out what happens next. The author says another book with recurring characters is coming and I can't wait.
I loved this book, I felt it started slow, but really grew into an exciting finish and last half.
Well done Mrs. Eaton! I look forward to more. Good job on a first book! 43 for all.
This book kept my attention from start to finish and the story is great! Hard to believe this is her first book ever....it clearly won't be her last.. Looking forward to the sequel.
